Find Your Group
We organize every event into skill-based run groups so you get the right amount of coaching, speed, and challenge in a safe, disciplined paddock.
Group A: Novice
Novice with Coach & Novice SoloNovice with Coach along with Novice Solo run together in the same group on circuit. First-timers receive a dedicated in-car coach ($50/day) teaching racing lines and visual references. Solo novices run independently at peer pace. Passing is permitted strictly on designated straightaways with an explicit point-by.
Group B: Intermediate Solo
Drivers with 20+ Track DaysDrivers with 20 plus track days, with good awareness, pace, and knowledge of track protocol. Passing is permitted on the entire lap with a point by. Passing in corners in this group is optional (you do not have to pass in corners if you don't feel comfortable).
Group C: Advanced Solo
High Pace & Keen ProtocolDrivers, racers, and testers with tons of track days (20+). Keen awareness, pace, and track protocol. Passing is required on the entire lap with a point by, including corners. Zero hold-ups—flow in the group must go unimpeded with no one being held up.
Group D: Unrestricted Test & Tune
Group D · White Wristband · By Invitation / ApprovalSeasoned racers, licensed competitors, coaches, and veterans of hundreds of track laps at numerous circuits. Passing is unrestricted and point-bys are not required although recommended. By invitation or prior verified check-ride approval.
Frequently Asked Questions About Run Groups

How do I move up or graduate to the next run group?
Move-ups are earned through demonstrated on-track consistency, spatial awareness, and situational protocol. When you feel ready for the next tier (e.g., Novice Solo to Intermediate, or Intermediate to Advanced), notify the registrar or Chief Instructor at morning check-in. An instructor will observe your stint and conduct a checkout ride to confirm your promotion.
What happens if I register for the wrong run group?
Safety and traffic flow are our top priorities. If our Chief Driving Instructor or corner marshals observe that you are significantly faster or slower than your group pace, we will smoothly reassign you to the appropriate run group at the mid-day driver meeting so you get the safest, most enjoyable track time.
Can two drivers share the same car across different run groups?
No. To ensure proper vehicle mechanical cooldown, tire temperature recovery, and safety inspection compliance, car sharing across separate run groups is not permitted. Two solo-approved drivers may share a single vehicle provided both drive in the same run group and submit individual registrations.
How does TDX prevent traffic trains from backing up on track?
Our passing protocols are engineered for continuous momentum. Flaggers at corner stations display the blue passing flag to inform drivers when trailing traffic has closed within 2 car lengths. In Groups B and C, point-bys must be given at the earliest safe opportunity on straights or corner entries to keep lap flow unimpeded.
Coaching
How does in-car coaching work?
We provide in-car coaching for all novice drivers at $50 per event day. Your coach is paired with you based on your car and driving criteria. They'll contact you a couple of days before the event to discuss goals, track schedules, and event details. This group sells out quickly, so register early. We're also happy to help any solo driver with coaching assistance.
How do I become a TDX coach?
We'd love to have qualified drivers join our coaching ranks. All registration fees are waived for approved coaches. Requirements: 50+ total track days at numerous tracks, clean safety record, MSF Level 1 certification, completion of the TDX coaches training program, a working communication device, and effective customer-centric communication skills. MSF 2 coaches are approved upon verification.
Safety & Passing Rules
What are the passing rules for each run group?
TDX enforces strict passing standards tailored to each group. In Group A (Novice Coached & Solo), passing is allowed solely on designated straightaways with an explicit point-by. In Group B (Intermediate), passing is permitted anywhere on track with a point-by (corner passing is optional). In Group C (Advanced), passing is required anywhere on lap with a point-by including corners with zero hold-ups. In Group D (Test & Tune), passing is unrestricted. Reckless driving or dive-bombing results in an immediate black flag.
Is there official timing, scoring, or transponders at TDX events?
No. Track Day Xperience is a strictly non-timed High-Performance Driving Education (HPDE) organization. There is no wheel-to-wheel racing, no official timing, and transponders are not utilized. Our events are engineered purely for driver skill development, line precision, car control, and safe seat time in a disciplined paddock environment.
What is the daily schedule format?
Each event runs from approximately 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Following driver check-in, tech verification, and the mandatory morning driver meeting, the structured run groups rotate through multiple 20 to 25-minute on-track sessions throughout the day, providing 2+ hours of total track time per driver.
Cars, Helmets & Sharing
Can I drive my daily street car?
Absolutely! Most TDX drivers drive normal street cars — from stock Miatas, GTIs, and Civics to Porsches, Corvettes, and BMWs. As long as your car passes the basic pre-event safety inspection (sound brake pads, fresh fluid, no leaks, secured battery, torqued lug nuts), it is ready for the track.
What helmet is required?
A Snell-rated SA2020 or SA2025 auto racing helmet is required. Snell SA2015 helmets are now expired. Motorcycle (DOT/M-rated) helmets are strictly not permitted because they lack fire-retardant liners and multi-impact roll bar protection. Sanitized rental helmets with fresh balaclavas are available at registration for $35/day.
Can I share a car with another driver?
Yes, under these conditions: both drivers must be solo-approved, both drive in the same run group, both supply a tech form for the car, both have a Snell SA2020+ helmet, no sharing in the novice-with-coach group, and sharing in separate groups is not permitted (requires an additional registration).
Can I bring a passenger?
Solo drivers may take passengers 18+ who have signed guest waivers, received a guest wristband, and have an approved Snell SA2020+ car helmet. The solo driver must drive no more than 7/10 with a passenger. All passengers must keep body parts inside the car, and all handheld devices are prohibited.
Event Cancellation Insurance (ECI)
What is ECI and how does it work?
Event Cancellation Insurance guarantees 100% of your event registration fees as an in-house credit valid for one year. You can cancel for any reason before midnight the day prior to the event. ECI fees are separate from event fees and are non-refundable. Introductory pricing: Annual — $99, Single Day — $25, Two Day — $40.
Does ECI override the standard cancellation policy?
Yes. The ECI policy supersedes all other cancellation policies. Without ECI, standard policies apply: 30+ days = full credit or refund less $35; 10–29 days = full credit or refund less $100; 9 days or less = no refunds or credits.

TrackDay Xperience and DriveTDX are the two core pillars of our company. TrackDay Xperience (TDX) is the experiential heart of our organization—representing our 30-year track day heritage, in-person event execution, small run groups, and 1-on-1 coaching pedigree. DriveTDX is our active modern brand name and digital paddock platform (drivetdx.com)—providing instant digital intake, $0 annual membership dues, real-time trackside scheduling, and the mobile driver companion app. Both pillars work in harmony to give you the premier high-performance driving experience in America.
How does DriveTDX provide world-class safety and more track time without expensive club memberships?
Most traditional track organizations charge expensive annual membership dues ($75–$250/yr) and pack 35–45 cars into overcrowded run groups to maximize headcount. DriveTDX takes the exact opposite approach. We charge $0 in annual membership dues, keep event registration prices fair and accessible ($249–$349/day), and deliberately cap run groups to small fields with clear track air. Every novice is paired 1-on-1 with a certified coach for just $50/day, passing is strictly enforced with point-bys on straights only, and we maintain an uncompromising zero-contact standard. You get more actual green-flag seat time, dedicated in-car coaching, and Steve Fureman's 30-year safety pedigree—all without paying inflated club dues or hidden fees.
What kind of cars run at DriveTDX, and can I attend as a spectator?
DriveTDX paddocks showcase an extraordinary gathering of high-performance sports cars, modern exotics, and race-bred track machinery — from factory track specials like the Porsche 911 GT3 RS, Cayman GT4 RS, and Corvette Z06 to finely sorted club racers, BMW M-cars, and tuned track platforms. Spectators, automotive enthusiasts, and families are warmly welcomed at all DriveTDX events with free paddock access, elevated trackside viewing mounds, and open paddock walking privileges to inspect the machinery up close and connect with drivers and coaches.
Do I need a membership to attend TDX events?
No. Unlike most track clubs, we do not charge an annual membership fee. We believe charging a driver for the privilege of purchasing track days from us is not good business. Your benefits for being a member of Track Day Xperience are genuine, and you should not have to pay a fee to access them.
Is my personal information shared with third parties?
Never. Your personal information will never be shared with any other entity. Our website is ours, not a third party.
